Below, we've listed 10 or so of the best Movies & TV Shows that are seeing Theatrical, Blu-ray & DVD, VOD, or TV releases this February; they're the biggest and (potentially) best of them, and at the very least, they are the ones that we're most excited to check out. And yes, we've listed them in order of our anticipation.
*Click the pics below for more info on the Movie or TV Show, and be sure to click the links in the paragraph above to visit our full Release Dates Pages.
THE WALKING DEAD (FEB 14TH) |
We have no idea, but we'll be tuning in to find out. And so will you.
FEBRUARY 23RD |
Synapse does some excellent Blu-ray work (check out their releases of Curtains, Demons I & II, and Prom Night for proof), and so we're excited beyond belief to see them give the Deluxe Steelbook treatment to one of our favorite Dario Argento flicks, Tenebrae.
Even though this one carries a pretty hefty price tag (around $46 with shipping), it's limited to 3000 copies, so act fast if you want one of them to be in your collection.
THE WITCH (FEB 19TH) |
Not only has The Witch been getting crazy good advanced reviews, but it's just been named an "Official Satanic Experience" by the Satanic Temple itself. Really.
We're going to go ahead and call The Witch the 2016 It Follows; it's got all kinds of crazy positive buzz surrounding it, and it looks like the kind of quiet, creepy flick that will end up pleasing both critics and audiences alike.
Everyone is loving this movie so far, and so we're expecting big, quality things from it.
SOUTHBOUND (FEB 9TH) |
"Five interlocking tales of terror follow the fates of a group of weary travellers who confront their worst nightmares - and darkest secrets - over one long night on a desolate stretch of desert highway."
Even though most of them tend to be uneven efforts at best, we're suckers for a good Horror Anthology. Advance word on Southbound has been overwhelmingly positive so far, with it being likened to Creepshow or Tales From the Crypt, which sounds pretty damned great to us.
We'll be there on day one. *In front of our TV's, because it'll be on VOD.
PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES (FEB 5TH) |
Sure its premise sounds ridiculous, and the trailer looks silly and over-the-top, but Pride and Prejudice and Zombies looks like a crazy fun time, and we're all about crazy fun. And hot chicks kicking ass.
I'm at least sure that this one will be better than Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, so there's that at least.
VIKINGS (FEB 18TH) |
One of the absolute best, and most entertaining shows on TV, Vikings returns on February 18th. If you have yet to check out the story of Ragnar Lothbrok and his Viking clan as they attempt to conquer the world, then you're truly missing out. Truly.
DEADPOOL (FEB 12th) |
Deapool is one of Marvel's funniest characters, and just like Wolverine, he's an alumni of the Weapon X program, so he's a badass too. This ought to be one funny movie, and with an R-rating, it shows that Marvel is going to give the foul-mouthed Superhero the treatment that he deserves.
Foul language, brutal violence, and gratuitous nudity, here we come!
CABIN FEVER (FEB 12TH) |
Another remake, but one that we aren't mad at in the slightest, is this redux of Eli Roth's quirky 2002 viral splatterfest, Cabin Fever. We thought the original was fun, and we actually liked 2014's Cabin Fever: Patient Zero for what it was, so we're kinda hyped to see what this remake has to offer.
It might even end up being better than the original.
FEBRUARY 16TH |
Arrow Video U.S. is giving us a classic 80's Slasher on Blu-ray? We're there.
FEBRUARY 23RD |
Scream Factory is giving us one of Wes Craven's most bizarre, and powerful movies on Blu-ray? Well then we're there for this one too.
Even though February seems like a shorter month to us, there will still be some worthwhile titles hitting VOD this month. In addition to the ones already listed above...
- The Pack was a cool Killer Dog flick. (Read our review HERE.)
- Nina Forever is a twisted Horror Romance that just might be perfect for Valentine's Day.
- Estranged looks solid.
- Backtrack was decent, if uninspiring. (Read our review HERE.)
